The Seamanship Skills course develops all the skills you have previously learnt, introduces new sailing techniques and encourages independent thinking in assessing conditions and executing manoeuvres.
Having mastered the practical skills and knowledge from Basic Skills Level 2 or 3, or their equivelent, the Seamanship Skills course takes you towards improved sailing and boat handling, providing you with greater confidence in your own skiils and ability to make seamanship decisions in moderate conditions.
The course is mainly practical with the emphasis on increasing the self reliance of the student in order that they may take charge of a boat and manage a small crew safely and with competance.
Conditions of the course are that Basic Skills Level 2 or 3 should already be in place.
The course is run over 2 to 3 days with 15 hours tuition and can be undertaken over a 'short break' holiday or at the begining of a week long booking.
